SC-WRES data is based on nine key indicators analysed at an organisational level to help local authorities create targeted action plans and drive improvement, while also informing a national report that provides an anonymous overview of the social care sector workforce.

In 2025, 99 local authorities participated in the SC-WRES Improvement Programme - 97 providing data about their adult social care workforce and 61 providing data about the children’s social care workforce. 

The data from the responding local authorities represents 132,700 employees: 77,500 colleagues working in adult social care and 55,300 in children’s social care.
